The Jebsen & Jessen Group of companies in Southeast Asia are involved in a wide range of  activities ranging from material handling equipment, packaging materials, chemical warehousing and distribution, and other import /export businesses.

The Group aspires to achieve business success while incorporating environmental management and practices in all aspects of their operations.  The presentation will give a candid account of the challenges and obstacles faced by the J&J Group when they took the bold step to implement its EHS (Environmental Health and Safety)  programme group-wide as early as 1995.  The experience gained from the various approaches taken to overcome the obstacles encountered in different countries to suit different business sectors will also be shared.


About the Speaker:

J. Heinrich Jessen graduated with a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies summa cum laude,  from The George Washington University, USA.  He then completed his Masters’ degree in Environmental Management at the School of forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University. Heinrich set up the EHS policies and programme for the J&J Group in his capacity as the Director of EHS from 1995 to 1998.  He has since been heading the operations in various companies within the J&J Group and is currently the Executive Vice-Chairman of the holding company.
