Admisssion Requirements

For admission as a candidate for the degree of Master of Science (Environmental Management) (MEM), a person must fulfill the basic requirements indicated below:

  • A good undergraduate degree with honours from a well-recognized university.
  • Relevant working experience in environmental management, or environment-related fields in either the public or private sectors.
  • For applicants from universities whose academic standards are not widely known, additional requirements may be stipulated. These may include the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and/or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  • For candidates whose medium of undergraduate instruction is not in English, a good Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score is also required.
  • Applicants with undergraduate degrees (and graduate degress, if any) from Myanmar are required to submit documentary evidence of their English language proficiency.

All these additional tests, where required, must not have been taken earlier than two years before the proposed date of admission.

Who may apply for the programme?

The MEM programme is multi-disciplinary in nature. Candidates have come from a variety of disciplines, including architecture, business studies, construction, engineering (chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical, processing), economics, humanities, languages, law, literature, government, real estate, science (biochemistry, biology, chemistry, environmental), environmental science and ecology. Candidates have also come from a over 25 countries, including China, India, Pakistan, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vietnam and Singapore.
